Joint defense of master's works on the INSPIRE

On Tuesday, June 25, the Polytechnic University held another defense of dissertations – their scientific work was presented by two young people enrolled in master's programs. Despite such a small, it would seem, the number of defended, the event had a special status, because this protection was the first in the framework of the implementation of the international project Erasmus+ at the site of YURGPU(NPI).

Cooperation of the first University in the South of Russia with leading universities in Europe and the world lasts for more than three years, one of its stages is the implementation of the master's curriculum in the framework of internationalization of engineering education in the direction of "Instrument: intelligent quality control". In the future, the implementation of such a project should create a favorable opportunity for obtaining a double degree for both our students and students of foreign partner universities.

The peculiarity of the online protection was the fact that it was held in English. Its members, in addition to representatives of the faculty URGU(NPI), headed by the scientific Director of the University Nikolay Ivanovich Gorbatenko, representatives Changchunshi engineering Institute of technology (China) and University of Technology Belfort-Montbéliard (France). The task of our foreign colleagues was to get acquainted with the topics presented in the dissertations of undergraduates, to assess the level of their scientific relevance and novelty.

- It is very important that in the future our undergraduates receive important experience in the practice of training in prestigious foreign universities, and in the future - the opportunity to become owners of new knowledge and double diplomas, - said N. I. Gorbatenko. - Today's event can be considered one of the first steps in this promising direction.

During the defense of their master's theses presented by young scientists of the faculty of information technology and management JURSPU(NPI) Yuri Manatskov (supervisor – Danil Vadimovich Shaikhutdinov) and Ivan Shcherbakov (supervisor – Hrayr karenovich Aleksanyan). Yuri's dissertation was devoted to the development of devices for the diagnosis of mechatronic systems based on reduced-order models. Ivan in his work touched upon the topic of three-dimensional electrical impedance tomography (work on a new generation of devices that allow non-invasive diagnosis of human lungs, successfully conducted in our University for several years).

After the successful defense, the young people, who received excellent marks, were happy to share their impressions.

- Of course, it was not easy to carry out the report completely in English, - Yuri Manatskov admitted with a smile. – But it worked!" It was a pleasure to speak in front of our colleagues from France and China, it was an invaluable experience of public scientific conversation in the language of international communication, which is extremely important for me.

- Our University is one of the few in the country where developments of such orientation are conducted, - Ivan Shcherbakov told. - It is gratifying that the representatives of the Chinese and French sides treated my speech with great attention, accompanying it with a number of clarifying questions and comments and thereby showing their level of awareness and interest. In the future, I plan to stay in my native NPI to begin work on my PhD thesis on this topic.

In addition to diplomas with honors, young scientists will also receive special certificates of participants of the international project Erasmus+.

Congratulations to Yuri and Ivan with a successful defense and wish them new scientific victories and discoveries!

Reference: Erasmus+ is a program of the European Union aimed at the development and support of cooperation in the field of education, vocational training, youth policy and sports for the period from 2014 to 2020. The Polytechnic University implements three programs within the framework of the Erasmus+ project - in mining, robotics and instrumentation.
