Volgograd State Technical University

VSTU was founded in 1930 and now is one of the largest universities in the Volga region, an institution of higher education with versatile activities, preparing highly-qualified specialists in compliance with the multistage system of education - Bachelors of Science, Certified Specialists and Masters of Science. The university's scientific schools are well known in both our country and abroad. International cooperation with foreign educational institutions is being carried forward. The total number of students in VSTU and its branches is over 20,000, including more than 300 foreign students from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The University consists of 3 affiliates, 3 representative offices, postgraduate and doctoral training programmes, departments that carry out educational, scientific, research, or creative activity, structural divisions of further vocational education, extra-curricular and pedagogical work, preparatory courses, a scientific and technical library, a publishing office, editorial offices of journals and mass-circulation newspaper, other training, scientific, information analysis units, as well as divisions involved in methodological, financial and economic, production activities.  Strategic objective of VSTU in the field of information technology is to develop effectively operating research, educational and management infomedium. This objective is being achieved by the following main activities: creating a modern communication infrastructure of the university; an active introduction of new information technologies into academic activities of the University; improving the efficiency of the University management based on information technologies.  VSTU introduced the integrated information analysis system (MAIS) “University” based on SAP BusinessSuite framework (HR FI modules) into productive operation.

The University introduced an academic activity management system, which provides storage and processing of data about students and their academic results and manages movements of the trainees

VSTU staff has regular training in IT professional development programs. Training workshop with the involvement of software developers and suppliers are held on a regular basis the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Science (FECS) holds “Information Technology Day”. The teaching staff and students of the faculty, schoolchildren and representatives of IT-companies take part in the event.  Workshops on robotic circuit engineering, pre-programme guidance of unmanned aerial vehicles, high performance computing, competitive programming and some others function as a part of the event.

  • Devices of nondestructive control,
  • Analysis of dynamic stability of power systems.
